Alinea International is seeking a Canadian Volunteer for Advocacy and Communications to work with SEND Ghana in Tamale, Ghana. The volunteer will contribute to impactful community initiatives and gain practical experience in communications, knowledge management, and gender-responsive programming. The position requires a minimum of 6 months commitment, with the possibility of extension up to 12 months.

Overview

The United for Care-sensitive Approaches to Rights and Empowerment (UCARE) Project is a five-year project funded by Global Affairs Canada that seeks to enhance the realization of women and adolescent girls’ rights to equal distribution of domestic work and reduced burden of unpaid care work in Northern Ghana.

  • The project works collaboratively with national partners, regional and local governments to create an evidence-based, gender-responsive and care-sensitive policy and programming environment.
  • UCARE partners with local organizations SEND, NETRIGHT and women’s rights organizations using the Gender Model Families approach to recognize, reduce and redistribute the burden of unpaid care work more equitably within households.

Role & Responsibilities

The Canadian Volunteer will work with the SEND Ghana team to strengthen Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) capabilities and contribute to community initiatives.

  • The volunteer will contribute to the development of communications materials and strategies to promote the UCARE project and its partners.
  • The volunteer will support the SEND Ghana team in implementing the Gender Model Families program, reaching up to 50,000 families in three northern regions of Ghana.

  • Relevant academic qualifications and experience in communications, international development, or a related field.
  • Strong English language skills.
