Alinea International is seeking a highly qualified consultant in environment and climate change to support its programming in Senegal. The successful candidate will have a strong academic and professional background in environment and climate change, with at least 5 years of experience in the field. The consultant will work on a part-time contract basis for up to 132 days per year, with a possibility of renewal.

Overview

The consultant will work on the Projet de Services d’Appui Terrain (PSAT), which aims to mobilize highly qualified technical specialists to support Canadian programming in Senegal and other countries covered by the Canadian Embassy in Dakar.

  • The project involves providing technical expertise in environment and climate change to support the development of climate-resilient projects and programs.
  • The consultant will work with a range of stakeholders, including government ministries, technical and financial partners, and civil society organizations.

Role & Responsibilities

The consultant will be responsible for providing technical expertise in environment and climate change, including the development of climate-resilient projects and programs.

  • Conducting analysis of climate policies and strategies in Senegal and Canada.
  • Developing technical reports, analytical notes, and institutional presentations.
  • Facilitating dialogue with a range of stakeholders, including government ministries, technical and financial partners, and civil society organizations.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in environment, climate change, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in environment and climate change, with a focus on climate policy, technical expertise, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Excellent written and spoken French, with proficiency in Wolof or other national languages considered an asset.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with experience in facilitating dialogue with a range of stakeholders.
